The online reception and party will take place at gather.bartom.family at
18:00-20:00 Israel Time
17:00-19:00 Lausanne and Central European Time
16:00-18:00 London (BST)
11:00-13:00 New-York, Boston and EDT
10:00-12:00 Chicago and CDT
8:00-10:00 Seattle and PDT
Edden and Talya's Bar Mitzvah celebration will be held online on the gather.town platform. This is a fun and simple interactive environment, where you will be able to walk around the event space (using the arrow keys on your keyboard) and interact with others through audio and video.
Requirements for connecting: a laptop or desktop computer (mac, windows, chrome or linux) is required to connect, but you do not need to install any software---just follow the link gather.bartom.family on Sunday to enter the party. A very limited mobile/tablet interface is also available, but it supports only audio with no video, doesn't support any of the interactive features, and doesn't look nice visually---we strongly recommend you connect from a laptop, desktop or chromebook computer.
We hope using gather.town will be simple and enjoyable, even if you didn't grow up playing video games or didn't spend the last year interacting with the world through your computer screen. But if you want to watch a demonstration video showing how to join the party, you can find one here: https://youtu.be/PaSNfaiyy2s
You can also email tourguide@bartom.family and set a time for a personal tour before the official start time, or call +1-312-867-2173 or +972-52-321-2161 (that's 052-321-2161 from Israel) for help before or during the event.
If multiple people in your household will be joining, you can all join on the same computer, move around the space, and talk with people together. Or, especially if people are of different age groups, you might want to join on separate computers so that you can move around independently, and have separate conversations and participate in activities separately. This is just like in a real physical bar mitzvah you probably won't all stay stuck to each other, and will likely engage differently.
